hajooj directed, edited and shot the feature documentary 'Beats of the Antonov' on war, music, & identity which won the People's Choice Award at 2014 Toronto International Film Festival in addition to 6 other film festival awards. The documentary took two years with the aim of telling a story worthy of sharing with the world; a story of resilience & resistance through music in the face of adversity. Due to his work in the war-torn region of Sudan, hajooj was listed in the Foreign Policy Magazine as one of the Leading Global Thinkers of 2014.

Previously, hajooj worked at the Middle East Broadcast Network in Virginia and Shilo Incorporation in New York City as a video editor and post production tech/editor. hajooj is currently the creative director at 3ayin, a Sudanese network reporting on the conflict in Sudan.

hajooj also gives drama and filmmaking workshops to displaced people in Blue Nile & Nuba Mountains. The workshops teach individuals to document their everyday lives using visual language with a concentration in storytelling. The Nuba Mountain drama group is creating fiction dramas for theater and cinema. This is being shared using mobile cinema within Nuba.
